Building a Collaborative Support Team
Parallel Independence relies on the quality, consistency, and integrity of the adults supporting young people. We recruit carefully, train thoroughly, and provide ongoing supervision, so staff practice remains safe, respectful, and aligned with the needs of each young person.
We also recognise that supported accommodation depends on teamwork. Staff work closely with each other and with professionals across the young person’s network to keep support coordinated and effective.

Recruitment and vetting
Safer recruitment that prioritises suitability and professionalism.
Recruitment is values-led and focused on the right people for relationship-based work. All staff are subject to appropriate vetting and checks, and we maintain clear standards for conduct, confidentiality, and professionalism. We select staff who can provide calm, consistent support and communicate clearly with young people and professionals.

Training and development
Core training that supports safe, consistent practice.
Staff complete induction and ongoing training relevant to supported accommodation. This includes safeguarding, equality and inclusion, professional boundaries, and approaches that support young people who have experienced trauma. Training is refreshed and reviewed so practice stays current and consistent.

Supervision and quality oversight
Support for staff and accountability for practice.
Staff receive regular supervision and guidance, with clear expectations about recording, communication, and day-to-day routines. Oversight supports consistency across the service, and helps ensure young people receive a stable, predictable experience from the adults around them.
